Register for Family History Hill Day on 15 April 2026

The Records Preservation and Access Coalition brings together genealogy and family history advocates from across the country. Join us for our annual advocacy day on Capitol Hill on 15 April 2026.  We encourage participants living outside the Beltway to arrive on Tuesday evening, 14 April, and plan to depart on Thursday afternoon, 16 April. Appointments will be requested on Wednesday, but some legislators may only have time available on Thursday morning. Last year, an attendee attended a Thursday morning coffee hosted by her California Senators, Schiff and Padilla.

Join RPAC for two “no-host”* social gatherings for participants: a breakfast near Union Station on Wednesday morning before our appointments and a group dinner on Wednesday evening. We encourage participants to plan an extra day before or after Hill Day to do research at the National Archives.

Attendees enjoyed Washington, D.C.’s spring blooms and a no-host dinner in 2025.

Please see the link below to register for the event. We encourage everyone to register by 15 February to participate in the training.

Registration includes virtual advocacy training on 25 February 2026 and 25 March 2026, both at 7:00 p.m. Registrants will receive a Zoom invite to the training and other details about Hill Day. RPAC will assist in scheduling appointments for registrants. However, some legislators require the appointments be made by their constituents online. RPAC will develop and provide policy statements for participants that prioritize adequate funding for the National Archives and Records Center and Museums and Libraries, which make our historical research possible.

Hotel rates in the Washington, DC, area are expensive, especially when Congress is in session. We encourage participants to attend with a genealogy friend and share the expenses, or stay with a relative in the area. The Metro is easily accessible from northern Virginia and Maryland.
